Sharing our stories, speaking our truths.
These are choices women can make going forward which will engender a culture of inclusion, honouring and a return of the sacred to a hurting world rife with dis-ease, dis-honouring and destruction.
Patriarchy is a system which birthed capitalism into the world. Capitalism unfettered has been a staggeringly destructive and highly divisive force. Neither system is a friend to Earth or women.
The Dalai Lama has said that the world will be saved by the western woman. A writing mentor of mine, Kathleen Hamilton, says it is the woman who speaks up who will make the difference.
But speaking up and sharing truths takes tremendous courage. I wish us all, regardless of gender, this courage.
So much healing depends on our willingness to engage in the dismantlement of the old to make space for new ways of being to emerge.
Our world is pregnant now with a desire for a better way forward. Let us all be wise midwives to this possibility.
May we take time to honour the roles women play (often under tremendously difficult circumstances) in creating a better tomorrow, today.
Give voice to truth. Train yours and your children's eyes to beauty. Speak up for that which matters to you. The time for a new way forward is now.
